About All Drains
A family company willing to take on the largest jobs
All Drains Limited was founded in 1990 by Phill Cookson, who still owns and manages the company together with his wife Annette and sons Aaron and Karl. The family takes personal pride in the drainage work they do, ensuring:
- Customers get quality, cost-effective work, done professionally to achieve the best immediate and long-term outcomes;
- Business partners are treated with integrity and respect; and
- Staff enjoy a safe, supportive working environment.
Drainage expertise recognised throughout Australasia
All Drains is based in Auckland, but has done work in many other centres. Phill Cookson is a recognised drainage expert throughout Australasia. Authorities often come to him for advice or to manage projects for them.
Phill has been working in the drainage field since 1976, when he started employment at Watercare Services in Auckland. In this capacity, he was responsible for de-silting all ARC/Watercare trunk sewer lines for 18 years – even beyond the founding of All Drains. He became the first person to plan and execute the closing of all pump stations in Auckland in the correct sequence, stopping all flow so that syphon penstocks could be repaired. (This was before holding tanks were introduced.)
Phill has not only assisted with planned projects, but has solved a number of major environmental pollution crises. He was on hand to contain the situation when the Hobson Bay trunk sewer line split, when Hamlin Hill penstock failed and the Hillsborough syphon flushing system became blocked.
He formalised his vast practical knowledge by becoming a registered drain layer in 1988.
Wide range of mechanical drain-cleaning equipment
All Drains has a range of robust equipment to tackle any drainage tests, maintenance or repairs.
The company has the largest range of mechanical dragging equipment for cleaning pipes and tunnels in New Zealand. All Drains have their own suction vacuum trucks, an array of pumps, and safety gear that meets the most stringent regulations.
While All Drains favour proven techniques for drainage maintenance and repairs, Phill Cookson has a rare talent for finding new practical solutions to problems. All Drains even manufactures specific tools in response to unusual challenges.
Responsible operation
The work we do can be hazardous, so we take extreme care that our staff are safe at all times. They are well-trained to operate all relevant machinery and in the use of safety gear. Our quality control systems ensure that everyone on the job follows health and safety requirements.
Through the use of targeted equipment, we are able to minimise occasions when our staff have to physically enter confined spaces.
All waste material we collect are transported and disposed of safely according to best practice and legal guidelines.
Our low-risk approach also means we ensure we are well covered in case something does go wrong. All Drains carries public liability insurance of $20 million and motor vehicle third party liability insurance of $10 million.
